Eye Specialists of Carolina annonced that medical director, Dr. Dean Dornic, has been certified to perform corneal transplants with the Alphacor artificial cornea. A shortage in donor corneas or graft rejection leaves millions of patients worldwide blind from corneal disorders. An artificial cornea, the AlphaCor implant has been developed to help ameliorate the problem. Dr. Dean Dornic of Raleigh, NC is the first private practice ophthalmologist in North Carolina to be certified in its use.

Dr. Dean Dornic of Eye Specialists of Carolina recently became the first private practice ophthalmologist in North Carolina to be certified in the use of the AlphaCor implant; an artificial cornea designed to be used in high risk cases.

Dr. Dornic, one of the nation's foremost leaders in cataract and cornea disease, performs thousands of cataract and corneal surgeries each year including corneal transplants, partial corneal transplants, Intacs and other vision correction procedures.
